For Small Flock Owners With 15 to 1,000 birds who are tired of working this hard for this little.

Business Planning: From Backyard Coops to Cashflow

You Do Not Have a Chicken Problem.
You Have an Operator Problem.

If you have been running a flock, packing dozens, and showing up Thursday morning with eggs in a cooler, you are not a hobbyist.

You are the producer, the packager, the marketer, the delivery driver, the customer service rep, the pricing analyst, and the bookkeeper.

You are running an operation.

Nobody told you that. So you priced like a hobbyist. You sold like a hobbyist. You apologized for your own product.

The math kept not working. You blamed yourself.

The math was never the problem. The frame was.

This book is the operator's manual nobody handed you.

You Already Know the Feeling...

It is 5:30 AM on a Thursday. You are packing twelve dozen for buyers who said they wanted them. Half of them have not confirmed. Two will text in the afternoon to "rain check." One will pay you in three weeks if you remind her.

You charge five dollars a dozen because that is what the lady at the farmers' market two towns over charges. You ran the numbers once and got scared. You closed the spreadsheet.

Your spouse asked you last week, again, if this is a business or a hobby. You said business. You meant hobby. You knew it. They knew it.

Your hens are beautiful. The yolks are deep orange. Your buyers tell you the eggs taste better than the store. None of that fixes the math.

You did not start this to be a martyr.

You started this to feed people, build something real, and have the operation pay you back for the work you put into it.

Right now, it is not paying you back. And nobody has shown you why.

Why Working Harder Is Making It Worse

Most chicken keepers think the fix is more chickens, better feed, or a slicker marketing post.

It is not.

The price you charge is set by the other chicken keepers in your zip code who are also bleeding. They drift toward the bottom of what feels neighborly. You drift to match them. Everyone agrees to lose together.

You can work harder inside that price ceiling forever. None of it matters. The ceiling is the price.

The fix is not more effort. The fix is identity. You stop thinking like a hobbyist and start thinking like an operator. Then the pricing, the buyer rhythm, and the system fall out of that one shift.

That is the whole point of this book.

What the Book Actually Is

The Chicken Pimp's Guide to Business Planning is not a beginner's chicken book.

It is not a coop construction manual. It is not a feed chart. It is not a list of breeds with photos.

It is the field guide that walks you through:

  • The pricing formula based on your real cost, your real time, and the margin you actually need

  • The buyer commitment rhythm that turns chatter into committed weekly customers

  • The exact words to use when you raise a price (and the line that turns half of the walkers back)

  • The Egg Sales SOP worksheet that lives on the wall above your carton stack

  • The 48-hour action checklist for the morning after you finish reading

  • The capacity model that tells you when adding birds will pay and when it will not

  • The buyer text templates you copy, paste, and send

It is short on purpose. Most chicken books are too long because the author was paid by the word. This one was written to be read in two evenings and run on the third.

What's Inside

  • Chapter 1: Understanding Your Capacity
Know How Much You Can Handle...Before You Burn Out or Break Shit

  • Chapter 2: Defining Your Products
Sell What Lays...From Eggs to Baby Birds

  • Chapter 3: Marketing and Sales
Who’s Buying Your Products and Why Should They Give a Cluck?

  • Chapter 4: Operations
    Your Systems Are Your Sanity

  • Chapter 5: Financial Planning
If It Don’t Pencil, It Don’t Cluck

  • Chapter 6: Scaling
Don’t Scale Chaos...Only Expand What Actually Works

  • Chapter 7: Sustainability
The Three P's: People, Planet, and Profits

  • Chapter 8: Community Engagement
The Healthiest Farms Are Built With Connection, Not Just Net Profit

  • Chapter 9: Future Planning
Pass the Farm, Not the Burnout

  • Chapter 10: Finalizing and Executing Your Plan
The Plan in Your Head Ain’t Worth Shit...if You Don’t Work It

Plus the Egg Sales SOP worksheet, the buyer text templates, and the cost-per-dozen worksheet.

Who Wrote This

I am Sean Short. Molecular biologist by training, small flock operator and feed seller by trade, Chicken Pimp by reputation.

I started selling eggs the same way most people did. I had a beautiful product. I had what I thought was a fair price. Turns out I had buyers who treated me like I sold grocery store eggs.

Then I opened a spreadsheet from the local Extension office...

I rebuilt my flock as a business in just 6 months. I now operate the pilot for The Feed Republic, a regional fresh-milled feed mill and hub network.

I wrote this book because I keep meeting the small flock owner I used to be...

Tired, underpriced, beautiful eggs, broken math.

You are not the only one. You are also not stuck.

The book is $17. One payment. Yours forever.

You can be reading it in your inbox in the next sixty seconds. The PDF is available as soon as you check out and is delivered straight to the device you are reading this on.

You also get an invitation, in the welcome email, to the Live Egg Sales Workshop, How to Get Paid for Raising a Small Flock. That is a separate paid step. The book stands on its own.

My Promise

Read the book. Run the math. If the cost-per-dozen worksheet does not show you at least $200 in revenue you are leaving on the table this year, hit reply on the welcome email and ask for a refund. I will send it. No forms, no friction.

One Last Thing...

You have already done the hard work. You raised the birds. You built the operation. You showed up at 5:30 AM in the rain.

The only thing left is to charge what the work is worth.

Welcome to our flock!

Founder, The Feed Republic

P.S. Most chicken books are written for people who have never owned a chicken. This one is written for the person who already owns the flock and just wants the math to work. If that is you, this is the shortest path I know to the fix.

P.P.S. The book is the manual. The Live Egg Sales Workshop is the room. We will talk about that in the welcome email. For now, get the book.
